METS FINALIZE ROSTER WITH BSN TOURNEY SET TO BEGIN NOVEMBER 10

 NOVEMBER 6, 2020  METSBASKETBALL

The Guaynabo Mets have made a roster move days before their first game of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) “bubble” tournament, announcing the signing of Nathaniel Butler-Lind.

Butler-Lind is a native of Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He graduated from Texas Christian University in 2013 and has played for seven BSN teams, most recently Atléticos de San Germán. Guaynabo Head Coach Christopher Thomas praised Butler-Lind’s basketball IQ, professionalism, and work ethic.

“We are extremely excited to add a player of Nathaniel’s ability to our organization this late into the process,” said Thomas. “He is a high level defender with an incredible motor and understands exactly what it takes to win in this league. I also value his veteran leadership and high moral character off the court.”

Butler-Lind is the final member of the Mets’ tournament roster. He joins Terrence Jones, David Stockton, Angel Nunez, Jonathan Han, Miguel Ali Berdiel, Weyinmi Rose, Kylan Guerra, Lonnie Rivera, Tyquan Rolón, Felix Rivera, and Wilmer Lugo.

The Mets will be without Carlos Emory due to a violation of team rules and the team’s strict no tolerance policy. As there is a league investigation pending, Mets management is unable to comment further on the topic, but they wish Emory luck wherever his talents take him. The team’s current focus is on working hard to prepare for the tournament.

Members of the Mets entered the “bubble” at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach Resort in Río Grande on Wednesday. Tournament play is scheduled to begin on November 10. Rigorous protocols are in place to keep participants healthy and safe from COVID-19 throughout the six weeks of scheduled play.

“I give lots of credit to the league, the franchises, and the facility for bringing this tournament together,” said Mets co-owner Marc Grossman. “This is an unprecedented situation, but the NBA proved that a bubble format can succeed. The return of basketball is encouraging after what’s been a very challenging year for many people.”The Mets’ first game is scheduled for November 11 against Leones de Ponce at 6 pm local time.
