GUAYNABO METS PREPARE FOR 2022 SEASON WITH OFFSEASON SIGNINGS

The Guaynabo Mets’ roster is coming into focus with the start of the 2022 season approximately ten weeks away.

Highlighting a series of recent moves is the announcement that Guaynabo has re-signed Tyquan Rolon and Jonathan Han to multiyear deals. The pair of guards was instrumental to Guaynabo’s success over the last two seasons. Han and Rolon are among the team leaders in minutes played and are leaders off the court as well. Han was second in the BSN last year in three point field goal percentage (51.1%) and Rolon was a top-ten playmaker, ranking among the league leaders in assists in 2021. Bringing them back for the long-term reflects their value to a Mets organization that has established itself a perennial title contender.

Also returning to the Mets is forward William Orozco, a 2021 free agent signing who proved to be a key player down the stretch. In addition, the Mets will have Renaldo Balkman back in the fold for 2022 after an injury-plagued first season with the team.

“Bringing back Captain Jon Han, along with returning starters Ty Rolon and Renaldo Balkman, gives us a core to build around,” said Head Coach Brad Greenberg. “We need to complement those three with two strong imports and build a bench to add depth capable of contributing against the better teams in the league. It is good to have a number of returning players who are familiar with each other and know what we feel is essential to winning basketball—playing defense and hitting the open man.”

Another 2022 free agent, Tyler Polo, will also be joining the Mets. Polo has played nine seasons in the BSN and was most recently a member of the Piratas de Quebradillas from 2018 – 2021. The forward had his best game of the season last year against Guaynabo, scoring 15 points and pulling down 6 rebounds. The team expects to announce more signings, including import players, in the coming weeks. For the latest team news and updates, follow Mets Basketball on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
